White sage is a sacred herb. It is used to clear negative energy from an establishment. It is a commonly held belief that this sage clears away the negative spirits. When burning Sweetgrass it is very important to first burn the White Sage as both negative and positive spirits like the Sweetgrass, they (the negative spirits) don't like the sage though. This is why White Sage is burned using "Smudge Sticks." The smoke is used for the purification.

Medicinally, White Sage tea will decrease nasal secretions and open airways. It can also reduce very heavy menstrual flow. Nursing mothers should not use white sage as it will reduce milk flow, unless you are no longer nursing and want the milk to dry up quickly.

Salvia Apiana will not winter over in many areas of the U.S.A so if it gets colder than 10 degrees you will only have a single harvest and will have to re-plant.
