Echinacea

Common Name (s): Echinacea, Purple Coneflower.

Scientific Name: Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench.

According to Iowa State University, Echinacea purpurea has known anti-viral properties, and Echinacea sanguinea has anti-inflammatory properties.  Some Native American tribes used this herb to treat snake bites.  This medicinal herb is commonly used to treat cough and cold symptoms, but should be considered when treating superficial wounds.
