Common Name:Black Hollyhock Latin: Alcea rosea
These are the blackest Hollyhocks I have ever seen. This herb can be used in the same manner as marshmallow. The flowers, with the calyx removed are commonly used to treat colds as they are a demulcent. They also have emollient and diuretic properties. Harvesting the black flowers makes a stunning herbal tea. Mix dried black flowers with some of our Mountain Mint as a relief remedy for the common cold, or just a wonderful herbal tea.
